The Dark Knight Rises - Review

The Dark Knight Rises was disappointing; underdeveloped characters, themes, and plot points. Beautiful and epic, yet underwhelming.

The Amazing Spider-Man Film Review

The Amazing Spider-Man is a dark, angst ridden, film that strays a bit from the original lore but at the same time remains faithful to the  several incarnations featured in the comic books and animated adaptations. Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, is portrayed as the brilliant, shy, outcast, longing for answers to his parent’s disappearance while balancing his newly found powers, romantic entanglement with Gwen Stacey, and family life. While the film gets overtly sappy and emotional at times, it does a great job of depicting the hardships a superhero must endure! The weight and energy of each web swing is felt. The scrapes and bruises that Peter comes home with after a night of crime fighting demand explanations that can’t be given, while the Lizard is an overbearing and powerful opponent that forces Spider-Man to rely on his agility and intellect in order to outmaneuver the reptilian menace. Most importantly, every action has a consequence. This is everything I wanted in a Spider-Man film, yet I found myself wanting a bit more. Why couldn’t the action sequences have been a bit longer? Why couldn’t there be a deeper exploration of Peter’s life in high school that didn’t get dwindled down to the more than familiar scene where the bully beats up the geek? Finally, did we really need to start over from the beginning? With these questions in mind, Spider-Man slows down at certain points where it shouldn’t and dashes right through scenes that deserved more than the time they were alloted. Despite it’s flaws, the film definitely makes a positive mark in the world of reboots and remakes.

Prometheus was a hollow and shallow prequel/homage to a classic film. Character archetypes are forced, poorly used, and too familiar for my taste.

At first I was quite disappointed with the season finale of Mad Men. However, my opinion changed quite a bit when I came to the realization that the entire season was centered around Megan and her fall from grace. Brilliant!!

Since the minute I installed Diablo 3 I have not been able to put the game down. However, as fun as the game may be, it’s even more entertaining to browse through several forums and sites, reading all of the negative and contradictory responses from hardcore gamers. These gamers are confident enough to admit that they are bored with the game despite spending numerous hours tackling the various difficulty levels and challenges. They, like myself, can’t get enough…
